Every short-video app draws its own buttons, description and progress bar over your video. Move a sample caption around a 9:16 frame, or load your own frame, and see which parts each app is likely to cover.

Media that is not 9:16 is cropped to fill the frame, as the apps do. Choose “Show the whole picture” to see all of it with bars instead.
On TikTok, this caption overlaps: caption and handle, action rail. Move it up, or narrow it.
Each shaded area is a part of the screen the app usually covers: the account name and description along the bottom, the column of like, comment and share buttons on the right, and the bar across the top. A caption that touches one turns red, because some viewers will not be able to read it.
The checker draws the same zones as the AutoCaptionGenerator editor. They are deliberate approximations that err on the side of covering a little more than the real interface, because the exact layout changes between app versions, devices and how long your description is.
None of the three apps publishes one margin that is safe for every post. TikTok and Meta describe safe zones in their advertising specifications (TikTok in-feed ads, Meta Reels ads) and offer templates rather than a single fixed number, and YouTube's Shorts help publishes no caption margin. Treat any checker, including this one, as a strong guide, then confirm in the app's own upload preview before you post.
On a 9:16 video, the band roughly a third of the way down the frame tends to stay clear on all three apps. Lower captions are fine as long as they sit above the description area and stop short of the button column, which is why narrowing a caption can fix an overlap as well as moving it.
Your file never leaves your device: the checker shows it in your browser and uploads nothing.
When you caption a video in AutoCaptionGenerator, the editor can show the same zones over your footage while you drag the captions into place, and you can pick a style that stays readable there from the caption styles gallery.
Upload a clip and see your own words on screen before you create an account.
